Happiest Foodie Friday!!!! Today I restart my foodie posts with a Hawaiian inspired dish of Poke. Since raw fish is off the menu for the next 3 months for me, I decided to improvise with a little twist on this enjoyable classic.
I started with a healthy helping of brown jasmine rice, layered with seaweed paper, avocado, cucumber, red onions and green onion. Instead of using raw tuna, I added cooked shrimp to my bowl and topped with a sprinkle of sesame oil and soy sauce.
The meatiness of the shrimp gave it a familiar “sushi-like” texture. We especially enjoyed the aroma of sesame oil that floats over the bowl helping bring the whole dish together. Even if you’re not pregnant, this dish is a dish!!!!!
