39 Years Young

I am thrilled to be celebrating my 39th birthday! It’s been quite a journey so far, with its ups and downs, but I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped me.

In the Bible, there is a verse in Psalm 144 that states, “Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.“. Sometimes I truly do feel the impact of that reality; I start my day on a jolt and before I know it, bedtime is knocking at my door 🤦🏾‍♀️.

For birthdays, however, I try to savor all the details that make the experience truly special. As I approach the end of my 30s, I’m taking the time to appreciate the meaningful moments in my life.🥳

My day started with a pleasant surprise as my amazing hubby took over the morning routine with the kids, allowing me to have some extra time to relax (gift number one). My little Buzzy Bee and Jai Bird greeted me with heartfelt birthday wishes and cards, making the morning even more special.

Next, I had my orthodontist appointment, which was not my ideal way to spend my special day, but my teeth alignment journey is important to me. I’ve been enjoying the results of having a straighter smile, even though I started this process as an adult. The appointment didn’t take too long, and soon it was time for lunch. I decided to try out HEB’s True Texas BBQ, as I had heard good things about it. The food turned out to be good enough for me to consider future visits.

After that, it was time to get some good old-fashioned self care at a nail salon I frequent. I was able to sit comfortably and indulge in that new Atlas movie starring Jennifer Lopez while getting some much-needed pedicure pampering.

With the afternoon somewhat open and having felt a wave of relaxation from my pedi, I decided to go take a nap! Yep. The older I get, the more I enjoy taking a good solid rest to refresh me for the evening. This could also be a sign that I need to do better about going to sleep earlier 🤔 I am late 30s after all.

Once I got the additional refreshment, it was time to get ready for dinner with hubby. A few weeks back we came across this restaurant called Medium Rare in Dallas. What’s unique about this spot is they have a fixed menu that comes with salad, steak, and frites. The only thing they ask is how you want your steak cooked.

The food was fantastic! The steak came with some kind of horseradish-like butter sauce that kicked it up a notch. To top it all off the staff surprised me with a birthday sundae, complete with a glitzy sparkler.

The next day, my celebrations continued with a fun meetup with my sister and girlfriends at Game Theory here in Fort Worth. It’s a restaurant that has an extensive library of board and card games for guests to enjoy.

Browsing through the library we came across one game called Old Cat Lady where the objective is to feed all of your random cats 😂. We also came across a game called Ruin It which gives various scenarios for players to come up with creative ways to ruin whatever event is on the play card.

We finally settled on playing Black Card Revoked since none of us had ever played before. It was really entertaining! We had tons of great laughs and conversations throughout the evening reminiscing over nostalgic card prompts.

Overall, I’m truly grateful for the love and joy shared with my family and friends as I enter the last year of my 30s. Should the good Lord let me see 40, I look forward to what epic events that future holds. For now I’ll slow it down and cherish the memories that have marked the beginning of my 39th year.

Cheers for all to come 🥳
