When I was a kid, I remember attending an event called Hell House. It was a walk-through experience designed as an alternative to haunted houses during Halloween. The actors portrayed various real-life characters, and as crowds moved through, they encountered staged scenes illustrating the potential consequences of choosing a path of darkness.

13-Year Anniversary: Sushi Bar
Every wedding anniversary for RJ and me is uniquely memorable. We cherish one-of-a-kind adventures that help us reconnect. This past year, RJ discovered a wonderful foodie experience for us to try out in Dallas. It featured three private chefs, a cozy basement-style room, and 16 deliciously prepared sushi courses. We’ve never had an experience quite like this! Read on to see how we fared and if it sounds like something you would be interested in sharing with your favorite person for a special occasion.

I have been looking forward to turning the big 4-0 for a while now. Anticipation for the celebration of this milestone stirred in my mind for the better part of a year leading up to October, my birthday month.

Hello everyone! I’m excited to share the latest blog about our 12th-anniversary trip! If you read last year’s anniversary trip write-up, you already know the challenges we faced leading up to it. We started on a rocky note that left us feeling a bit out of sorts—we didn’t even want to be around each other. A significant portion of our trip was spent in a shadowy valley 😞. However, GOD 👏🏾 IS 👏🏾 GOOD 👏🏾, and He graciously met us in that valley and led us to much greener pastures.
This year, our anniversary was the complete opposite of last year’s experience. We tried lots of unique foods, had a blast learning how to tag walls in a graffiti lesson, enjoyed our first 4DX theater experience, and wrapped it all up with some valuable insights. I can’t wait to share more—let’s dive in!

When Jai Bird has her birthday, I generally find it difficult to figure out a theme for the party🤔 She wants to be just like her big sister so she goes for the things Buzzy Bee enjoys, like Barbie dolls and Disney Princesses. This year, however, Jai Bird began to lean into things that appealed to her unique character. While she would never turn down a Barbie, I’ve noticed her confidence solidifying once she finds something that suits her personality. This year, I’m glad we saw more of her individuality so that party planning wasn’t nearly as challenging compared to past years 😅

I am thrilled to be celebrating my 39th birthday! It’s been quite a journey so far, with its ups and downs, but I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped me.
In the Bible, there is a verse in Psalm 144 that states, “Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.“. Sometimes I truly do feel the impact of that reality; I start my day on a jolt and before I know it, bedtime is knocking at my door 🤦🏾♀️.
For birthdays, however, I try to savor all the details that make the experience truly special. As I approach the end of my 30s, I’m taking the time to appreciate the meaningful moments in my life.🥳

So my daughter has finally caught on that every year we have a theme for her birthday. This year, she actually started making requests a few months in advance of her big day. This really helped me out because sometimes I can get over zealous trying to figure out what to do and then before I know it, I’ve got too many ideas cooking 🤦🏾♀️

I’ve been on a looong hiatus from writing. I miss it 😭 Even though I’ve been out of my writing pocket, the summer was full of adventures galore. My phone is literally bursting with photos! We got to try blueberry picking at Blase Family Farm, both girls got to ride horseback at a friends birthday party, we stacked mad legos at Rouge Brick, we got to pet and learn about a chinchilla at the local library, they got to go bowling at Main Event, took a trip to The Illusion Museum in Dallas, and visited Disney Princess friends at Nebraska Furniture Mart 😅

A few months ago Reba (a mommy friend of mine) asked me to be an interviewee on her new YouTube podcast “Moms Can Too”. I was so humbled, excited, and of course I said YES! I’ve never been a guest on a podcast before.

My mom is a wonderful person. Growing up, she always encouraged us, supported us, and taught us to fear the Lord. If you’ve never read Proverbs 31 (I highly recommend it; it’s a great read), it speaks of a woman who fears God and the impact it has on her household. My mom is such a woman. She has had such an impact on me and my sisters that we decided to surprise her with a birthday getaway to Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
